Havana, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) Cuban-American attorney Jose Pertierra said the United States should abide by the international agreement signed with Venezuela and extradite infamous Cuban-born terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to that South American nation.
In a phone interview Pertierra, who works in Washington DC, commented for the TV program Round Table on Thursday evening, that the only witness at the hearing in the Immigration Service Processing Center in El Paso, Texas, was Venezuelan Joaquin Chaffardet, an old close friend of Posada Carriles from when they worked at Venezuela´s secret police.
Chaffardet was secretary general of the Department of Intelligence and Protection Services (DISIP), when the Cuban born terrorist was a CIA operative assisting that agency in the late 60s and early 70s, according to US official declassified files.
He later worked for Posada Carriles at the latter´s private security agency in Caracas, when the Cuban born CIA operative and Orlando Bosh, also of Cuban origin, masterminded the mid-air bombing of a Cuban airliner in 1976 killing the 73 people on board.
According to Pertierra, it´s very easy to rebuff Chaffardet´s testimony that Posada Carriles would be tortured if he´s deported to Venezuela.
On Venezuela´s extradition request, the US lawyer stressed the United States should extradite Posada Carriles to Venezuela and suspend immediately the immigration process´ farce.
