AUSTRALIA, October 22, 2008.Maria Eugenia Guerrero is welcomed in Perth, WA by Vic Williams, State Secretary of the Communist Party of Australia, WA branch. In an emotive event a group of local members of the party branch listened to the distinguished guest speaking on the plight of the Cuban Five. She stressed the importance of solidarity and thanked the party and other mass organisations involved in her tour in Western Australia. Her program on Monday included a one hour local radio interview in Spanish in which she discussed the case of the Cuban heroes. The radio station played a couple songs from the cd “Volvere” 14 songs based on poems written by Antonio Guerrero. At the end of the program, Maria Eugenia read one of the poems written by Antonio during his time in the “hole”, poem dedicated to his son’s 18th birthday. Today’s program also included a visit to the powerful construction union the CFMEU and an interview with Kevin Reynolds, state branch secretary. During the interview the State Secretary expressed his message of solidarity to the Cuban Revolution and to the cause of the Cuban Five renovating his support to broaden the campaign for their freedom.
